6. Create and Assign Project Tasks

Now there is a very quick and easy way to create a concatenated list of tasks by hitting the button "multiple tasks" on the top right. If you prefer to do that you may just do that now and skip the rest of this step. In this step you will see and understand what exactly is behind creating/editing individually linked tasks, which might help you if later on you want to fine-tune your task lists.

Now you can see the project overview:
Click the button “new task”:

On the “Details” tab you can add overall information:

You can set the dates for this task on the “Dates” tab:

Under the “Human Resources” tab you can assign the task to a user:

You can opt to have the task details be sent to the user you are assigning it to:

Now hit the button “save”.
You will now see the new task added in the project:

Let’s add another task that is dependent on the one created and hence needs to start when this one ends.
You need to go through the same steps as you did just now when you created the first task. In addition you need to hit the tab “Dependencies”.

Select the task you want to make this one dependent upon and check “Set task start date based on dependency”:

Hit the button with the arrow pointing to the right.
Now the task will show up under “Task Dependencies”.

If you want the dependent task’s start date to change when its predecessor’s end date changes, also switch “Dependency Tracking” to “On”.

(One more interesting item is the “Dynamic Task” checkbox. If checked, the task’s start and end date will solely depend upon its child tasks. You may experiment with this later.)

You may now hit submit.

The new task will show up as added:

This way you can create as many tasks and dependencies as you wish.
